Welcome

Sunshine Artist Best 200We invite you to join us for the 32nd annual College Hill Arts Festival which will be held July 16-17, 2010 on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa at the shady corner of College and 23rd Streets. The College Hill Arts Festival has been named to Sunshine Artist magazine's list of 'Best Fine Arts & Design Shows' in the United States for four of the past five years.  Also, the Festival was named the 2006 Event of the Year by the Cedar Valley Tourism Bureaus.

Each year 75 talented artists are hand-selected by three independent jurors whose task it is to fill the Festival with high quality art that demonstrates original design and unique representation of the chosen medium. These juried artists will exhibit and sell their original artwork in categories including jewelry, sculpture, painting, pastel, ceramics, graphics/printmaking, mixed media, fiber, photography, glass, and wood.

The Festival Turns 32
In 1979, under the visionary leadership of Hugh Pettersen, the sidewalks of the College Hill business district came alive with artists. In the years that followed, the Festival has grown to be a signature event in the State of Iowa. The Festival is run entirely by volunteers whose main goal is to make fine art readily accessible to the public. Each year the Festival showcases 75 talented artists who turn the corner of 23rd & College Streets into a museum. These artists have come to Cedar Falls from 16 states to give you, our patrons, the very best art experience possible. Please make these wonderful artists feel welcome by stopping by their booths to enjoy their art. And remember, anything you like you can buy and take home with you to enjoy forever!
The College Hill Arts Festival appreciates the continued support of our generous corporate sponsors and volunteers who contribute their time and effort to ensure a high quality Festival. In addition, The Festival is grateful for the tremendous support of the entire Cedar Valley and also our Special Patrons Program whose purchases exceeded $20,000 last year.

Complimenting the artists’ exhibits will be a variety of musical groups performing on stage; a hands-on creative activity for children sponsored by the Hearst Center for the Arts; and the Young Art Collectors Gallery which features original artwork created by exhibiting artists with prices of $10 or less and encourages children [ages 14 & under] to make independent choices about art. There will also be a variety of food vendors to entice Festival attendees. Picnic tables will be located near the food booth and the Performing Arts Stage. And, our trademark balloon arches add to the festivities!

Balloon ArchFor the 26th consecutive year, internationally recognized artist, Gary Kelley, will design the Festival poster. Kelley's poster for the 2009 Festival received the award for "Most Creative Concept" from Sunshine Artist magazine in their 14th Annual Show Poster Contest.

On behalf of the College Hill Arts Festival board members, our countless volunteers, and corporate sponsors we look forward to seeing you at the 2010 College Hill Arts Festival!!
